Autumn Beauty Box Swap

Autumn Beauty Box SwapA couple of months ago Kat from Tales Of a Pale Face announced another beauty bloggers swap, and as I enjoyed the last one so much, I signed up straight away. I was paired up with Clare from A Bit of This and That and The Make Up Obsessed Midlander and we got swapping! Check out what I received!

Autumn swap makeupBeaut Natural Collection blush in ‘Peach Melba’, totally yummy Revlon Lip Butter in ‘Lollipop’ and OMG – my first MAC lippy. Clare is somewhat of a MAC aficionado – I think that she has 30 lipsticks – so she was well placed to pick one out for a newbie like me and she chose the classic ‘Creme Cup’.

lipsticksLook at that – a bright and a nude. Perfect choices.

facemasksClare also gave me a selection of face masks, a Macadamia hair mask, a selection of samples to try out and a little floral makeup bag. I love a good face mask and that Very Berry one is my absolute favourite. I can’t wait to have a good pamper night or two with the masks and samples.

As you can see, I was very spoiled. A massive thank you to Clare for such a lovely swap. Make sure you check out both her blogs here and here and her YouTube here. I just hope she liked what I sent here as much. Thanks also to Kat for organising, have a read of her blog here – it’s marvelous.

I love swapping! Have you done one of these?

Mani Monday – Autumn Picks

Autumn nail picksSo another season is upon us and it’s time to decide what’s going to be adorning our nails in the run up to the glitter explosion that is the Festive season. Well for me, autumn nails are all about experimenting with finishes and textures. As always, this list is representative, I will be wearing more than these five, I do have a lot to choose from y’know.

Autumn nail picksLeft to right: Nails Inc ‘Savile Row’; Barry M Textured ‘Majesty’; Max Factor ‘Fantasy Fire’; OPI ‘Peace & Love & OPI’; Nails Inc ‘Pinkie Pink’.

Nails Inc Savile row‘Savile Row’, you are the most perfect dark plum. This creme is a dream to apply, layers for darkness and looks ace with an accent nail accompaniment (yeah, all about accent nails in the autumn), or a matte french tip.

Barry M MajestyI blogged about this whole collection last month, and I absolutely love it. ‘Majesty’ is a great transitioning burnished gold for when you’re not quite ready for yellow gold yet. Wear it without a topcoat for autumn texture.

Max Factor Fantasy Fire‘Fantasy Fire’ is absolutely gorgeous but nigh on impossible to capture on camera. It applies sheers so you need a good few coats but then you are rewarded with the most mesmerizing mix of a deep purple base with fiery red shimmer and a slight hint of a duochrome green element. One of those polishes that’ll have you holding your hand up to your face throughout the day to ooh over.

OPI Peace and love and OPIStepping up the duochrome factor with this mini from the OPI San Francisco collection. This shimmery shade is both olive and aubergine for days when you just can’t decide.

Nails Inc Pinkie PinkFinally, we have ‘Pinkie Pink’ which is in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month so get your pinkies glittered up and show support for this great cause. A donation is made when you buy the bottle, and Nails Inc will also donate again for every picture you tweet of you, or someone else, wearing the shade. Find out more here.

Matte autumn nails As an added bonus, here  is my matte topcoat of choice: Nails Inc ‘Westminster Bridge’. It is pricey at Β£12, but the bottle is huge and will last you ages. I love mixing the finishes up, some nails gloss, some matte, mattifying glitter, gloss french tips, matte half moons, the possibilities are endless.

What are your top nail polish picks for Autumn?

The Autumn Tag

The Autumn TagThe past three days have been freezing so I think that it’s well and truly time to do this tag. This one was created by Makeup-Pixi3.com (original post here)  and shared all over – us bloggers do seem to love autumn!

1. Favourite thing about autumn?

The weather turning colder gets everyone in the cosying up mood. Chunky knit jumpers in the shops, extra throws brought out of the cupboards, fairy lights switched on in pubs. Bliss. Plus, it’s one step closer to Christmas! Yeah, I said it.

2. Favourite drink?

I don’t drink tea or coffee and I rarely drink hot chocolate (seemingly everyone else’s favourite) so I’m going to have to be honest and pick something boozy. WHISKY BASED COCKTAIL FOR ME PLEASE! Mmmm an Old Fashioned would do nicely.Whiskey

3. Favourite scent/candle?

Something cosy like vanilla, marshmallowy, spicyness. Currently loving Bath and Body Works’ Marshmallow Fireside and good old Vanilla scented tea lights from IKEA.Bath and Body Works Marshmallow Fireside

4. Best lipstick?

I think MUA’s shade 11 (great name there). It’s a darker nude colour and not too drying. I also wear lashings of lip balm – any I have to hand.

5. Go to moisturiser?

Soap and Glory’s The Righteous Butter or a Body Butter from The Body Shop.

6. Go to colours for the eyes?

Bronze, bronze and more bronze. I’m thinking about branching out slightly and buying either Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Pomegranate or Bourjois’ new Prune Nocturne and adding some cranberry tones in there.Autumn tag beauty

7. Favourite music or band/singer to listen to?

Don’t think I listen to anything different or special. I’ve been re-loving The Jam recently, will that do? Oh and I’m going to see the Madness musical Our House on Tuesday so probably them too. Let’s say 70s era Brit rock and pop.

8. Favourite outfit to wear (i.e. boots and a scarf combo)?

I don’t care as long as I can wear my beloved yellow Cambridge Satchel. Luckily this looks pretty sweet with flat boots, my purple duffel coat and a bobble hat. I do love a good bobble hat. yellow cambridge satchel

9. Autumn treat?

This autumn I’ll be buying lots of house stuff as I want it all sorted before Christmas. Need new sofas, rugs and finishing touches.

10. Favourite place to be?

At home on the sofa/in bed or in the cinema, either way, cosied up with a film.

I tag you! Yes, you! Leave me a link to your Autumn Tag post.

P.S. Here’s a slightly out of focus picture of a squirrel. Another favourite thing about Autumn is helping these guys stock up for the winter!Squirrel
