Weekly Loves #1

So Friday Favourites is becoming Weekly Loves. Still a weekly post but I don’t have to commit to the day of the week. Lucky since it’s Saturday eh? I’ll still try to post on either a Friday evening or a Saturday morning though for some kind of consistency.

A Beautiful Mess App A beautiful mess appWho isn’t loving this app? Serious serious girl crush. This is all over Instagram at the moment and rightly so, super fun.

Visit www.abeautifulmess.com and bask in blog perfection!

Charlotte Olympia ‘Movie Night’ charlotte_olympia_popcorn_shoulder_handbagOh I need this! Seriously, I can think of at least 5 events I can wear it to! Justifies the £295 price tag right?

Monsters University

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbeFIfS8uno

Have a great weekend!

Friday Favourites – 10 May

Yeah! Friday Faves on a Friday! I’m looking forward to this weekend because I have exactly zero plans. Bliss. This week I have been mostly thinking about this stuffs:

Dita! DitaCuddles from this monster make me very happy.

Balmi Balmi CoconutI have a full on addiction to this lip balm. It is so soft and silky and oh my, smells amazing. Plus they have SPF 15. Score.

Available from Boots for £4.99. Pricey but worth it.

Vita Coco Vita CocoMore coconutty goodness. Trying really hard to cut down on the amount of fizzy juice I drink so exploring new lunchtime options. I expected to hate this, the last time I had fresh coconut water it was really bitter and undrinkable. However, now I think I had been sold an off coconut, because this was lovely. Plus it helps me to increase my water count without rotting my teeth. Gonna need to hunt down the other flavours now!

The Worlds End

So excited!

Barry M Summer Releases Confetti Gelly Nail Paint SummerAh so many wonderful things! I cannot possess them all. These are two new additions to the Barry M Nail Catalogue. The “inspired by Nails Inc” Confetti range looks so pretty and I cannot resist the Gellys anyway so… restraint. I really want to try all of the Confettis and the ‘Key Lime’ and ‘Blue Grape’ Gellys. And maybe the ‘Guava’ too. Barry M also have a new Sequin range which I thought looked pretty until I saw swatches which made them look gross. I’m actually pleased about his, I really don’t need a longer list.

You can see swatches of the Confetti range here and the new Gellys here. They go on sale 6th June in Superdrug and 12th June in Boots for £3.99 each. Run!

Now for the weekend to begin! Hope you have a good one :)

Friday Favourites – 3rd May

Oh dear, it appears to be Saturday already. Might need to change the format of these posts…

Magazine Freebies Magazine FreebiesThis week I have been mostly loving free stuff. I read a lot of magazines anyway so it’s always good when you get something to read on the bus and a new product to play with. This month InStyle are giving away one full size bottle of Nails Inc polish (yey). There are 3 colours to choose from, I picked up ‘You’re a Peach’ and there is a red and a pink too. Then I snapped up Elle who are tempting you with a trail size ‘They’re Real’ mascara from Benefit. The bottle is a wee bit stingy, but I’ve been wanting to try this out without paying the £18.50 price tag. Its seems like it’s amazing on some people, not so much on others so I’m pleased with this freebie. Lastly, Marie Claire have a choice of Avon products – a lipstick, an eyeliner or a brow pencil. Eyebrow products are severely missing from my make-up collection so this is what I went for. Good haul!

Models Own Neons Pink Punch Models OwnTotally had not been sold on neon nail polish (too into pastels) until now. I picked this up purely because Models Own was on 2 for 1 or something like that and I was buying the Artstix. But I am in love. Sorely tempted to buy the box set now… This one is ‘Pink Punch’ btw.

Buy from www.modelsownit.com

Catfish: The TV Series

I don’t care that it’s so mindless and set-up, I’m obsessed!

Star Wars Star wars H&M tshirtThe geeks among you will know that today,  May the 4th, is Star Wars Day. Well I’ve never seen Star Wars but that will be remedied this weekend. I’m looking forward to it. I’ve even bought this awesome t-shirt from H&M. Think it will go well with my ‘Pink Punch’ nail polish. That’s the main thing.

See ya next time amigos.

Friday Favourites – 5th April

Happy April everybody! I’m excited about the month ahead, as it’s now officially spring-time! Yay! Now just for the cold to pass… Here’s this week’s favourites.

Topshop Nail polish Topshop Nail PolishIs on offer at 2 for £8!! Wooo! I tried this nail polish not really expecting much but it’s turned into one of my favourite brands. And the packaging and in-store display are the stuff nail polish dreams are made of. I’ve currently got AWOL and Daydream in my basket.

Buy online at www.topshop.com, you know you want to.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen GBKMmm burgers. One of the highlights of the week was an after work jaunt to Gourmet Burger Kitchen for a hefty tea. I had a Kiwiburger (in my mind, an Aussie Burger) which is a cheeseburger topped with an egg, pineapple and beetroot. Sounds gross but it really works. And you can give a voluntary donation to help save the Kiwis. Aww.

Check out www.gbk.co.uk for your nearest restaurant.

Made in Chelsea

Guilty pleasure time! Can’t wait to see the aftermath of that slap!

Starts on E4 on Monday 8th at 10pm. #imready

That’s all from me, what have you been loving this week?

Friday Favourites – 29 March

Now that I no longer work weekends, I’m pretty into Fridays! Totally get it now.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Vault urban-decay-vaultOh my God! Look at it! I don’t even have the words…

I only use these eyeliners and in this set you get 40, including 13 new shades. It is retailing in the states for $295. I hope it comes to the UK, but in a way I kinda don’t, I cannot afford this but it would be sooo hard to resist. Check out the deets at www.urbandecay.com

Ciaté Chalkboard Nails Ciate-chalkboard-nails-main-imageSo far I’ve mostly avoided Ciate since the whole palavar over the caviar/fish-egg manicures and I’ve thought that their kits haven’t been worth the money. However, I must admit that I’m pretty taken with this one. for £25 you get a black nail polish which dries to a chalkboard finish, 4 chalk pens and a mattifying topcoat. I think that this would be hard to replicate with craft supplies without damaging your nails so this sounds good to me!

Released on 23rd April in Selfridges and on ASOS after that. Visit www.ciate.co.uk for more information. I’m also pretty taken by the Colourfoil Nails. Peanut butter me upPeanut Butter Me Up  Aaaand this is the reason I’ll never be skinny! A peanut butter and jam sandwich but in ice cream form. Damn you Ben & Jerry!

Good Vibrations

Going to see this next week and I’m really looking forward to it. Love a film with a punk rock soundtrack.

Find out where it’s showing near you via their Facebook page.

See you same time, same place next week. Have a good one!

Friday Favourites – Love your Sisters Special

Happy International Women’s Day everybody! In honour of the occasion I  dedicate this week’s Friday Favourites to all the wonderful women of the world. In an age where ‘feminism’ is a dirty word and ‘slut-shaming’ is a thing, we should stop and take stock. Is feminism really over? Why is there such an abundance of girl-on-girl crime on the internet nowadays? In the words of Ms Norbury: “You all have got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it OK for guys to call you sluts and whores”. Let’s learn the lessons Mean Girls offered up and show some love.

Caitlin Moran Caitlin MoranWith her bestselling book How to be a Woman, Caitlin Moran is the modern-day face of feminism. Funny, smart and important, I read her book and then thrust it upon anyone who came near me for months afterwards. If you haven’t read it, do so. Now!

Lena Dunham Girls Season 2“I have work, and then I have a dinner thing. And then I am busy, trying to become who I am.” Enough said.

Anne Hathaway Anne HathawayWhat is with all the Hathaway-Hate at the moment? She is good in everything! Even that Alice in Wonderland mess! Plus she is the face of One Billion Rising, a movement fighting for women’s rights the world over, which is pretty cool.

Fabiola Gianotti Fabiola GianottiHow many female scientists can you name? Physicist Fabiola Gianotti led the team of 3000 people who discovered the Higgs Boson particle. With her contribution being recognised in the media, perhaps the achievements of other female scientists will be equally revered, opening the door to more women entering the field. We can hope.

Cara Delevingne Cara DelevingneI just love her face. She’s been putting the LOL’s into backstage snaps from fashion weeks non-stop this year. The definition of versatile.

Malala Yousafzai MalalaFor anyone that thinks that feminism is no longer needed as “there’s nothing left to fight for”, this is the girl doing your fighting for you.

Yep, women rock. Share some love, who are your female icons?

Friday Favourites – 1st March

March already! How time flies when you’re having fun! March will be a busy month for me as I’m moving jobs and I have an essay that I want to have done by the start of April. Hopefully writing that here will actually force me to do it! This week I have mostly been loving…

Penguins! PenguinsDoes anyone not love penguins? The BBC programme Penguins – Spy in the Huddle has been absolutely rocking my February. I am completely bereft that it’s over, as I was when Polar Bear – Spy on the Ice finished. But I am being comforted by the news that Edinburgh Zoo is launching after hours events, following the path blazed by the insanely successful NMS Lates. The pandas may get all of the headlines, but the penguins are, and always have been the real stars of Edinburgh Zoo. Once I went to the zoo and only one penguin fancied doing the Penguin Parade that day (yep, the keepers ask them) and we all stood dutifully in a line for 20 minutes while he slowly strolled around the course. What a rockstar! Although some of the penguins are on holiday at the moment while their enclosure is refurbed, I’m looking forward to seeing the rest and their sleepy faces on May 26th.

Get your tickets for Edinburgh Zoo Nights here. It’s gonna be fun!

Starsign Cushion free people star sign cushionI’m not a big believer in horoscopes but they do have a certain entertainment factor. It’s also handy to be able to say “Oh ignore my irrational behaviour, it’s just us Pisces’ way”. And even skeptics have to admit that this cushion is pretty cute.

Available at www.freepeople.com

Instapol InstapolJust got a bunch of Instagrams printed via Instapol and I’m so happy with the result! They arrived super quick and are great quality. I’ve got an idea of how to display them and can’t wait to get the supplies together to create  something. I’ll share that project here ASAP. Best of all, I got these through a deal on Groupon so they were super cheap. Keep your eyes peeled for more.

Go to www.instapol.co.uk to print your own.

Fat Mum Slim March Photo a Day FMS Photo a day MarchSpeaking of Instagram, I can’t wait to get started on month 3 of the photo a day challenge! This is the March list, it’s an interesting one indeed. As usual, I’ll be playing on Instagram and posting weekly updates here every Sunday (mostly, sometimes they are late).

Visit www.fatmumslim.com.au to join in.

‘Til next time!

Friday Favourites – 8 February

Hello, hope you are all having a good Friday! I am having the worst Friday – struck down with severe toothache so have spent the day in bed with pots of jelly and Season 1 of Girls. I guess that’s not too bad really. Here’s what else has been getting me through this week:

Cat Ring Lazy Oaf Gold Cat ringHow cute is this?! I just bought a cat face watch from ASOS, would adding this be too much? And coupled with my cat patterned iPhone case. Seems like fashion is currently embracing it’s inner Crazy Cat Lady-ness, and I’m on board with that!

This adorable ring is by Lazy Oaf, is £16.00 and is also available in black. Have a wee browse  over at www.lazyoaf.co.uk

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette Urban Decay Naked BasicsTreated myself to this last week. Look how dinky it is! I was going to try and do a full review, but I’m not a beauty blogger and there is nothing I can say about this that isn’t already out there, other than that I am really happy that I bought this. I will use all the colours and I can’t often say that about eyeshadow palettes.

I bought mine from Beauty Bay and it cost £20. If you want to see a review and swatches, there are lots available, I like this one by essiebutton.

Pancake Day PancakesSo some of you might be excited about a different day next week, but I’m more excited for Pancake Day (Tuesday 12th). I’ll be having some classic, thin crepe-style pancakes with sugar and lemon. Hopefully my toothache will have sorted itself out by then, otherwise – ouch!

Here’s a nice and basic recipe from the nice and basic BBC and good ol’ Delia.

Edinburgh International Science Festival Edinburgh International Science FestivalEdinburgh International Science Festival is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary this year and it’s programme is typically fantastic. Running from 23rd March – 7th April there is something for everyone. I’m looking forward to The Great Big Science Quiz, The Edinburgh Medal Address, featuring man of the moment Professor Peter Higgs and Director General of CERN, Professor Rolf-Dieter Heuer, Pisces and The Ugly Animal Preservation Society. Comedy and science do mix.

Visit www.sciencefestival.co.uk to find out more and to book some tickets. I promise you’ll find something you’ll enjoy even if you’re ‘not into science’.

Cheers y’all.

Just realised that this is my first Favourites post of 2013. It’s a good one…

Blog Inc Blog IncI’ve just bought Blog Inc by Joy Deangdeelert Cho in the hope that it can help me to become a better blogger. I’ve heard lots of good things about this book, and I’m really enjoying blogging so far so I can’t wait to get stuck in!

Glasgow Film Festival gffThe Glasgow Film Festival 2013 programme has just been launched and it’s a corker. The Glasgow Short Film Festival and the Youth Film Festival also look particularly impressive this year. Can’t wait!
