Anti SeaWorld Jumper

I promise this feature won’t take you to spam, it’s just a fortnightly round up of my favourite stuff I’ve seen on the internets…

Anti SeaWorld Jumper

Jumper from Wildtail.

The best news of the week – the California Coastal Commission attaches ban on breeding to SeaWorld’s new orca enclosure. A small step, but a significant one surely in ensuring that this generation of captive whales will be the last. Now we just need to extend to that to every other dolphinarium, include all cetaceans, stop the circus performances, retire the wild caught orcas and their offspring to seapens… but we’ll get there! #SeaWorldSucks #emptythetanks

I’m loving Alice’s Baking the Bake Off series, let’s pretend GBBO isn’t over yet! That Snickers cheesecake though.

Speaking of the Bake Off, how great was it that Nadiya triumphed? I loved her from the start but she really won me over when she said bubblegum and peppermint were her favourite flavours. Me too sister, me too.

Wanna be the coolest person at your Halloween party? Juliet has you covered with this Furiosa tutorial. Badass, bang up-to-date, and best of all, easy.

Well done to the protesters who took advantage of the Suffragette premiere at LFF to highlight their ongoing campaign. And well done to Abi Morgan for speaking out against sexism in the film industry. Still a long way to go…

These person shaped pylons are stunningly beautiful. Every country needs these. If only to have giants guarding the troll fences (if you get that reference I love you).

Lastly, I found Charlotte’s post about being content and believing in yourself to be really inspiring. It’s tough, but sometimes you’ve got to ditch your problems and just remember how awesome you are without them.

Have a great weekend!

  1. I *love* that jumper. Such a great step for the future but as you said, still so much to do to end the abhorrent cruelty that is still a daily reality for the captive orcas they currently have.

    1. I wouldn’t be surprised if they manage to wriggle out of it, but it definitely shows that the tide is turning against them. I really hope this will make people who still defend them think twice about why the CCC would make such a decision.
