#BEDM | An Introduction

Blog Every Day in May

On a bit of a whim, I decided to take part in Rosalilium‘s Blog Every Day in May challenge. Briefly, this is a challenge where Elizabeth at Rosalilium has set blogging prompts for each day in May. You write a blog post inspired by the prompt and share it with the Blog Every Day in May (or BEDM) community by using the hashtag #BEDM.

The reason I decided to join was the first prompt: “What is your blog all about?” Well originally my blog was created to force me to be more creative. It started as a space where I would share my drawings and kicked off with a sketch a day challenge. Quickly, it changed into the “lifestyle” (i.e. a bit of everything) blog you see today. I’m happy with this, I enjoy it and I’ve realised I can’t force myself to draw more. The urge comes and goes, one day I might even pick up the paints again but for now I’m content to keep a relaxed attitude about it.

However, I’m no longer truly challenging myself to approach this blog creatively. So that’s where BEDM comes in for me. I’m sure I’ll have moments of failure (May is a crazy busy month at work for me – getting my excuses in early!), but perhaps there will be moments of glory too. I might even find a new favourite topic to write about. Or discover what I really don’t want to write about. I’m sure I’ll find some new favourite blogs and maybe I’ll gain a few more readers too.

So what is my blog all about? It’s about all my favourite things, sure, but it’s also about challenging myself. So here we go…

Ah, I like the last paragraph, I feel the same way about my blog. I like to post about my favourite things but also try challenge myself. Looking forward to seeing more of your BEDM posts! I’m over at http://rare-opal.blogspot.co.uk/ if you’re interested:) (Also, hope your Dad has a happy birthday!)
