Today was my chance to share with you all the fabulous blogging tips I’ve learned over the years. But, let’s be honest here, you’ve heard them all before. Besides, there’s only one rule in blogging (and life) and that is: DON’T BE A DICK. Easy right?
Well according to the scandal that erupted on Twitter on Tuesday, apparently not. In case you missed the drams, a bug on the Guru Gossiper website (I’m not gonna link them, don’t want them to find me!) revealed the email addresses of some of its users. A couple of bloggers on there saw this and were shocked to be able to link some of the (active) user’s emails to as yet unnamed bloggers. Outrage ensued.
Guru Gossiper is basically a forum where people can talk smack about bloggers, youtubers, vloggers etc. It’s usually mean, unfair and largely based on people’s appearances. There is a section where you can talk about people you love but from what I’ve seen, that’s not utilised as much.
I do believe in the community spirit of bloggerdom but I don’t think that you can say that hurtful gossip is worse because other bloggers were involved. Blog on blog crime is bad, but so is girl on girl or even human on human. Let’s try to remember that and be a little less catty. Or at least keep you opinions off the internet.
