Another daily challenge! Here’s the challenge in full:
I first saw this on the Nail Art 101 website, sorry, I don’t know who posted it originally. If you do, please let me know in the comments so I can credit/link to them.
Day 1: Red
The disastrous strawberry nails again! I used Boots 17 ‘Risky Red’, OPI ‘Who the Shrek Are You?’ (green), and OPI ‘Fiercely Fiona’ (yellow).
Day 2: Orange
Testing out the PVA base coat idea. I used a pretty nasty old, dried up paint brush to apply, and a fairly clumpy glitter polish so it was a little messy around the edges, but yep, it does work! The PVA took around 20 mins to dry fully on my nails so it took some time but this is time you’ll save on glitter removal. Also, peeling polish is kinda fun and it doesn’t damage your nails. At all! I used W7 ‘Orange Dazzle’ and PVA glue from Hobbycraft.
Day 3: Yellow
I do love an accent nail! I used Models Own ‘Lemon Meringue’ and round sequins from a set I was given as a gift some time ago so don’t remember the brand.
Day 4: Green
Camo! Mostly green right? I used Nails Inc ‘London’ (base – light brown), China Glaze ‘Foie Gras’ (dark brown), Collection 2000 ‘Hidden’ (khaki green), Rimmel ‘Block your Green’ (brighter green – looks kinda blue in this picture – couldn’t get a true to colour picture).
Day 5: Blue
Velvet accent. I used Boots 17 ‘Midnight Sapphire’ and navy flocking powder purchased from Amazon. I did the velvet as an accent to liven up the day blue, but I’d wear this as an all over mani for a night out I reckon. First time trying it and I really liked the look and feel.
Day 6: Violet
Wasn’t quite ready to give up the navy from the day before so I did a two-tone look with the trusty scotch tape. Is that cheating? I don’t care, this looked awesome. I used Boots 17 ‘Midnight Sapphire’ (navy) and China Glaze ‘ Coconut Kiss’ (Purple).
Day 7: Black & White
I love this gothic cross look, super easy to do too. I used Barry M Black and Models Own WAH Nail Art Pen in White.
Day 8: Metallic
Another accent nail! Although, unlike the velvet mani, I don’t think I’d like this as an all over look. I used Barry M ‘Foil Effects Gold’ and micro beads bought from Amazon. I also put a topcoat on the beads which didn’t smear the colour at all (as I heard it would from other bloggers). Maybe that’s down to the beads or the topcoat, I’m not sure. Worth experimenting with your own beads and topcoats though, as it’ll make the beads last longer.
Thanks for looking at my pictures! I know they don’t match up to other nail bloggers, but I’m getting there and having fun along the way. Also hoping to upgrade my camera soon so hopefully the image quality will improve along with the nail art! See you next week when it all starts to get a bit more complicated…
