…it is actually another beauty haul. Sorry. I went on a bit of a shopping trip to Livingston Centre, which is exciting for me as it has a Wilko’s and a Poundland. Oh yeah, height of glamour over here! Let’s go to Wilko’s first:
I’ve heard good things about Essence so I decided to pick up a few different bits to try it out. The eyeshadows (‘Irresistible Vanilla Latte’ and ‘Irresistible Caramel Cream’) are both very pigmented and a definite winner. I love the colour combos for autumn. Oh, OK, all year round. I also somewhat randomly choose a glow in the dark nail polish. Yup, I needed that! But Halloween is fast approaching so I’m sure it’ll make an appearance. The lipstick I choose is a bright pink called ‘Colour Crush’:
Funnily enough, “crush” is fairly appropriate because when I got it home it was all squished up in the lid. Boo. Ladies, if it’s not plastic wrapped, check the inside! The colour applies brighter on the lips than I expected but it’s lovely, comfortable and lasts a decent length of time.
I picked these up in Poundland. Yey! I’ve been wanting to try the Revlon Parfumerie range since it came out and while these aren’t the shades I’ve been lusting after (‘Wintermint’, that’s you) I thought that for a quid each I might as well give them a go. ‘Surf Spray’ is my favourite, it looks great and smells awesome.
Next, I hit up Superdrug. The new Barry M Gellys were on 3 for 2 so of course I picked up three. I got ‘Cardamom’, ‘Paprika’ and ‘Mustard’. I’ll have a review of these and swatches up on Monday, so keep your peepers peeled.
I spied the new Baby Lips Electro stand and was drawn to two shades – ‘Pink Shock’ and ‘Strike a Rose’. I’ve tried them only quickly and they have quite a good pigment. Not opaque, but they do add a sheen of colour and feel very moisturising. I really like them.
And finally, I took an old eyeliner along to the Boots Benefit counter to take part in the liner swap. Basically, any liner (any brand) can be swapped for a sample of their They’re Real Push-up Liner. It’s a very small size, but it gives you an idea of the special nib applicator and of course the formula before you fork out for the full size. I actually have a Maybelline version of this, so I’ll be comparing the two in a post very soon. While there, I couldn’t resist picking up the Bene Balm. Although it’s not quite a pigmented as the Baby Lips (and about 3 times the price!), it feels heavenly on the lips and I am in love with the packaging.
OK, no more shopping for Ali! At least until the end of October. Maybe. What have you been buying recently?
