The Silk Collection is the latest nail polish innovation from Barry M and I believe offers something truly unique to the British high street. Featuring 6 spring appropriate shades, these polishes dry matte yet retain a beautiful sheen to replicate the luxurious finish of silk. At £3.99 each and on buy one get on half price at Superdrug, I couldn’t resist snapping up the whole collection to try.
First up, ‘Meadow’ a soft green that requires three coats for an opaque finish. As you will see from all these swatches, the matte finish prevents any brush marks from showing as can often be a problem for frost finishes.
‘Mist’ is a lovely blue colours, again this is three coats. This particular shade is perhaps a little too frosty for my tastes, I prefer bright blues, but I do think it looks nice on and could see myself coming round to it more.
The very appropriately named ‘Pearl’. I’m loving white nails at the moment and this is a great alternative for anyone not keen on the tipp-ex nails look. This shade will also be perfect for winter. Three coats.
‘Blossom’ is a bubblegum pink with a twist. I’m sure that this will be the most popular shade of the collection. Again this is three coats.
I adore ‘Heather’. A very pale lilac, this is one of the most wearable shades in the collection. Three coats.
This is ‘Truffle’, my surprise favourite. It applies lighter than it appears in the bottle. I only applied two coats, I think it would be darker with a third but I liked the paler, very subtle look after two.
Overall, I’m very impressed with this collection and I’m glad I nabbed them all while they were in stock. I want to try out a few different nail art looks with these including contrasting finishes which I think will look really good. I’ll be sure to share with you once I do!
What do you think of the Silk collection? Which shade has caught your eye?
