As you can see I’ve been treating myself a bit recently. It may not be a lot for some but this is a ton of makeup to buy in one month for me. However, I’m excited to try all this stuff so I thought I’d share.
I don’t wear foundation much but I stumbled across a sample of Rimmel Match Perfection in Light Porcelain 010 which turns out to be the perfect colour for me. It’s pale but doesn’t have a yellow tone which I find is common in pale colours. I still won’t wear this everyday but I look forward to having perfect skin on special occasions. I also bought one of the new Bourjois Cream Blush in Nude Velvet 01 which is a lovely peachy tone that feels as velvety as the name suggests.
First up, Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr Gel-Cream Eyeshadow in On and On Bronze which is a gorgeous, wearable smoky shimmer. Yeah, bit in love. Continuing the love of a neutral eye, I picked up Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Stick in Bulletproof Beige. As a blue-eyed girl browns, creams and golds are my friends. I also bought a Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Black. I’m fairly loyal to my Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencils but they are pricy and I heard that the Rimmel one was a good alternative so wanted to give it a whirl. The Rimmel Scandaleyes Volume Flash Mascara was a free gift with purchase in Boots. It has a big thick, bushy brush which is exactly the kind I like so I’m keen to try this.
Lips I’ve decided that this year is going to be the year that I find my signature lip colour. As I’m not very sure what suits me, I’m going with cheapies first. These were just £1 each! I got MUA Lipstick Shade 8 (red) and Shade 11 (dusky pink). I was a bit surprised at the size of the gold shimmer in Shade 8 but I can report that they are both comfortable to wear and, luckily for me, don’t cling to dry patches on the lips.
I needed a new Bourjois 1 Second Magic Nail Polish Remover. I love this stuff! I was also after a new base coat and a new top coat so when I spotted this Rimmel 5 in 1 Nail Treat Base and Top coat I figured why not. It’s working well so far. I went for my first holo with the much praised Gosh Holographic Hero which featured in Mani Monday here. Couldn’t decide between Maybelline Colour Show Polka Dots in Speckled Pink or Rain Forest Canopy so somehow both of them ended up in my basket! Lucky the blue one was out of stock, that’s all I’m saying. Finally, I’ve been keen to try feather nails but I’m too tight for Nails Inc and too impatient for the Barry M launch next week so I nabbed Invogue Feather Effect in Jaye Bird and On the Money. I have Jaye Bird (the blue and white) on just now and I totally love it!
Finally, I stocked up on pore strips and face masks (obsessed!). I also picked up one of the new Impulse Body Fragrances in Secret Smile (Raspberry and Gardenia) as I have some long work days coming up and these are so cheap to keep in my desk for an instant lift. I also bought a little bottle of Bio-Oil to try out.
Phew! I must point out that most of this stuff was bought on special offers: Superdrug 3 for 2 Makeup; Bio-Oil offer; Superdrug 4 for 3 Face Masks; and the Scandaleyes Mascara was free with the Foundation and Eyeshadow Stick on an offer at Boots which is now finished. Still, the spending ban starts now eh.
