Liebster Award

liebster-awardA couple of weeks ago I was given a Liebster Award by BrooklynMommy at and to be honest, I didn’t know what it was. I’ve since found out that it’s passed from blogger to blogger to recognise people’s hard work and it is specifically for bloggers with less than 200 followers.

When you are awarded it you are supposed to post 11 facts about yourself, answer questions set by the awarder and then pass it onto other bloggers who you feel deserve it. I guess it’s a bit like a chain letter, but I appreciate the sentiment behind it so I did want to follow through. However, I made me realise that I don’t in fact follow that many other blogs, and almost none with less than 200 followers. I think this is a bit shameful for a new blogger like me and I’ve resolved to change this. I’m going to make a point of actively seeking out lesser known blogs and supporting new writers, that is what blogging is all about isn’t it? So thank you Liebster and BrooklynMommy for helping me to see where I can make improvements in my own browsing habits!

For now, I’ll share some facts and answer the set questions, and hopefully in the future I’ll be able to come back to this and highlight some great new blogs.

11 Facts:
I am 25; I am studying for a Masters degree, working part-time and living at home while doing so (embarrassing!); My Scottish accent gets insanely stronger when I drink alcohol; I have owned (as much as you can own) 4 cats in my life, Freckles, Tigger, Annoushka and Murphy; I once skipped an exam at uni to go watch the new Indiana Jones film – and still passed the module; My favourite band is The Bouncing Souls and I’ve seen them 5 times; I own over 120 bottles of nail polish but have no dupes *proud face*; I love bad TV (like Made in Chelsea and Snog, Marry Avoid) and I read celebrity gossip magazines on a regular basis; My dream holiday destination is Mexico, I have never been anywhere in Central or South America; I start getting excited about Christmas in October; I’d love to get some tattoos (an anchor, a swallow, maybe some Bouncing Souls artwork) but I’m too much of a wuss!

Questions from BrooklynMommy:
1. Beer, wine or mix drink
Mix drink – either Jack & Coke, vodka & mixer or a tequila based cocktail please!
2. Snow or Sun
Tricky one. We have no such thing as sun in Scotland so I’m tempted to say that but it has to be snow. It’s pretty, fun, Christmassy, and sometimes gets us a day off work/school.
3. Dogs or Cats
3.   If you could choose one of your personality traits to pass on to your children, what would it be?
The ability to reach their own decisions about things and to have a curious and critical mind.
4. Which is your favorite genre of movies? (Comedy/Romance/Suspense/Action/Horror)
Has to be horror: monster; sci-fi; schlock; slasher… I love it all. Although I also love documentaries and will watch them about nearly any subject.
5. If given a chance to skip work or school for a day, how would you spend the entire day?
In all honesty I would probably waste the day oversleeping, maybe have a long bath, paint my nails and laze about watching telly and munching junk food.
6. Which animal would you want to be? Why?
A domestic cat, because all they do is essentially what I said in my above answer!
7. What was your favorite food when you were a child?
I think it was probably macaroni cheese, which I still love. And sweeties I would guess.
8. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
Washing the windows, mirrors and glass doors. I get obsessed with imagined streaks and can never be happy with it.
9. What is your favorite candy bar?
Dairy Milk chocolate. Always hits the spot!
10. Is there one thing you still won’t tell your parents you have done?
Yep, but they sometimes read this!
11. How would your friend describe you to someone who has never seen you?
“Long dark hair, average height, blue eyes… She’s a bit of a dick though” Ahh so sweet!

Make sure you go check out BrooklynMommy’s blog. I’m loving her Advent Calender Nail Art Challenge posts at the moment. Really wish I had started them too!, Ah well there’s always next year. I especially love her Day 7 – Ornaments theme where she painted wee snowmen on her nails. For some reason she didn’t seem happy with them, but I think they are FAB!

Hope you have enjoyed this post. At least now you know some random facts about me.
