Mani Monday – Poppy Nails

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

In Flanders Fields John McCrae

In honour of Remembrance Sunday  yesterday, I painted poppies on my nails, which I still have on today. Just because Armistice Day has passed, does not mean you cannot still remember the men and women all over the world who have fought, are fighting, will fight for their country, no matter what your political standpoint is.

Donate to the Scottish Poppy Appeal here in order to support their hard work all year round.

This design was done with Nails Inc ‘Elizabeth Street’ (background), China Glaze ‘Ruby Pumps’ (red) and Nails Inc ‘Black Taxi’ (black).
