I am currently away on holiday but as I had not posted last week I scheduled this post a few days ago. In reality, my current faves will probably be my flip-flops, my Kindle and an icy cocktail! But I’m also loving this stuffs:
Bumble and Bumble Freebie 
I do love a good freebie. I’ve been drooling over the Bumble and Bumble Surf range but unfortunately my budget doesn’t stretch to £20 shampoo. Luckily, Elle have kindly given us a free sample of their Thickening range. I haven’t tried this yet but I’ll report back when I do!
Sharks 
I love sharks. They’re getting a lot of attention this week due to Discovery’s annual Shark Week, but the one thing that’s a bit of a shame is the number of programmes that are aimed at driving people’s fear of them. Shows like ‘Great White Serial Killer’, ‘I Escaped Jaws’ and ‘Sharkpocalypse’ are fun but do nothing for the long term protection of sharks. I’m not saying we should attempt to go swimming with sharks but there should be less fear-mongering and more appreciation for the role they play in the oceans eco-system.
The film Sharkwater explores the truth about sharks and I recommend watching it to learn about the threats posed to them, and to us (just try and get past the annoying narration). More info at www.sharkwater.com
Pink hair! 
Dyed my ombre pink and I’m so pleased with it. It’s so bright! More pink than it looks in the above photo, I used Schwarzkopf Live XXL in Raspberry Rebel. I just hope that it’s not going to dye the hotel swimming pool pink!
Urban Outfitters Turquoise Polka Dot Bedding 
Still on daydreaming about house decorating and I think that this bedding is ‘the one’. At £60 for the duvet cover and £35 for the pillow covers, it’s a bit steep but I looovvvee it!

Summer always seems to be a good time for magazine freebies and Marie Claire is really stepping up to the plate. Last month I was kinda underwhelmed by the Ciate Caviar beads freebie (aren’t they a bit over now?) although I know it was a pretty sweet deal with the matching nail polish. This month however, super excited. This eyeliner pen is amazing! Eyeko is a brand I’ve never tried but heard good things about. Well done, Marie Claire!
Can we just stop for a moment to appreciate the pure awesome that is this swimsuit? Oh how I wish I could afford a Black Milk Clothing swimsuit! They have so many amazing ones:, Galaxy print; Dinosaur; R2D2; Jaws vs Ariel!!! But my favourite has to be this tiger one. And tigers love water so it makes perfect sense, fact fans.
Most of the time Matalan’s homeware collection can be a bit going-for-the-antique-look-but-actually-a-bit-heavy-on-the-faux for me, but sometimes it looks like something straight off of my Pinterest page. Neon. Colour-blocking. That is all.
And if Innocent is the taste of summer, this is the smell. Seriously, go into a chemist and sniff it, it’s amazing!
First thing I’ll start when I get my own house will be a succulent garden. Lovely and easy to look after – perfect!
It’s always jumper weather in Scotland and I love this lilac one from Topshop. At £36 its a pay-day treat and also available in blue, yellow and peach. This one looks like the perfect match for Barry M ‘Prickly Pear’. Must have it!
This coral and white satchel is gorgeous. I wish I could have one in every colour!
Ok, I have no idea how these work, apparently you can shake them up for a sheer colour or apply as is for a graduated effect. Regardless, they’ll look pretty cool on your dresser.

I have a full on addiction to this lip balm. It is so soft and silky and oh my, smells amazing. Plus they have SPF 15. Score.
More coconutty goodness. Trying really hard to cut down on the amount of fizzy juice I drink so exploring new lunchtime options. I expected to hate this, the last time I had fresh coconut water it was really bitter and undrinkable. However, now I think I had been sold an off coconut, because this was lovely. Plus it helps me to increase my water count without rotting my teeth. Gonna need to hunt down the other flavours now!
Ah so many wonderful things! I cannot possess them all. These are two new additions to the Barry M Nail Catalogue. The “inspired by Nails Inc” Confetti range looks so pretty and I cannot resist the Gellys anyway so… restraint. I really want to try all of the Confettis and the ‘Key Lime’ and ‘Blue Grape’ Gellys. And maybe the ‘Guava’ too. Barry M also have a new Sequin range which I thought looked pretty until I saw swatches which made them look gross. I’m actually pleased about his, I really don’t need a longer list.
This week I have been mostly loving free stuff. I read a lot of magazines anyway so it’s always good when you get something to read on the bus and a new product to play with. This month InStyle are giving away one full size bottle of Nails Inc polish (yey). There are 3 colours to choose from, I picked up ‘You’re a Peach’ and there is a red and a pink too. Then I snapped up Elle who are tempting you with a trail size ‘They’re Real’ mascara from Benefit. The bottle is a wee bit stingy, but I’ve been wanting to try this out without paying the £18.50 price tag. Its seems like it’s amazing on some people, not so much on others so I’m pleased with this freebie. Lastly, Marie Claire have a choice of Avon products – a lipstick, an eyeliner or a brow pencil. Eyebrow products are severely missing from my make-up collection so this is what I went for. Good haul!
Totally had not been sold on neon nail polish (too into pastels) until now. I picked this up purely because Models Own was on 2 for 1 or something like that and I was buying the Artstix. But I am in love. Sorely tempted to buy the box set now… This one is ‘Pink Punch’ btw.
The geeks among you will know that today, May the 4th, is Star Wars Day. Well I’ve never seen Star Wars but that will be remedied this weekend. I’m looking forward to it. I’ve even bought this awesome t-shirt from H&M. Think it will go well with my ‘Pink Punch’ nail polish. That’s the main thing.
Is on offer at 2 for £8!! Wooo! I tried this nail polish not really expecting much but it’s turned into one of my favourite brands. And the packaging and in-store display are the stuff nail polish dreams are made of. I’ve currently got AWOL and Daydream in my basket.
Mmm burgers. One of the highlights of the week was an after work jaunt to Gourmet Burger Kitchen for a hefty tea. I had a Kiwiburger (in my mind, an Aussie Burger) which is a cheeseburger topped with an egg, pineapple and beetroot. Sounds gross but it really works. And you can give a voluntary donation to help save the Kiwis. Aww.
With her bestselling book How to be a Woman, Caitlin Moran is the modern-day face of feminism. Funny, smart and important, I read her book and then thrust it upon anyone who came near me for months afterwards. If you haven’t read it, do so. Now!

What is with all the Hathaway-Hate at the moment? She is good in everything! Even that Alice in Wonderland mess! Plus she is the face of One Billion Rising, a movement fighting for women’s rights the world over, which is pretty cool.
How many female scientists can you name? Physicist Fabiola Gianotti led the team of 3000 people who discovered the Higgs Boson particle. With her contribution being recognised in the media, perhaps the achievements of other female scientists will be equally revered, opening the door to more women entering the field. We can hope.
I just love her face. She’s been putting the LOL’s into backstage snaps from fashion weeks non-stop this year. The definition of versatile.
For anyone that thinks that feminism is no longer needed as “there’s nothing left to fight for”, this is the girl doing your fighting for you.
Does anyone not love penguins? The BBC programme Penguins – Spy in the Huddle has been absolutely rocking my February. I am completely bereft that it’s over, as I was when Polar Bear – Spy on the Ice finished. But I am being comforted by the news that Edinburgh Zoo is launching after hours events, following the path blazed by the insanely successful NMS Lates. The pandas may get all of the headlines, but the penguins are, and always have been the real stars of Edinburgh Zoo. Once I went to the zoo and only one penguin fancied doing the Penguin Parade that day (yep, the keepers ask them) and we all stood dutifully in a line for 20 minutes while he slowly strolled around the course. What a rockstar! Although some of the penguins are on holiday at the moment while their enclosure is refurbed, I’m looking forward to seeing the rest and their sleepy faces on May 26th.
I’m not a big believer in horoscopes but they do have a certain entertainment factor. It’s also handy to be able to say “Oh ignore my irrational behaviour, it’s just us Pisces’ way”. And even skeptics have to admit that this cushion is pretty cute.
Just got a bunch of Instagrams printed via Instapol and I’m so happy with the result!They arrived super quick and are great quality. I’ve got an idea of how to display them and can’t wait to get the supplies together to create something. I’ll share that project here ASAP. Best of all, I got these through a deal on Groupon so they were super cheap. Keep your eyes peeled for more.
Speaking of Instagram, I can’t wait to get started on month 3 of the photo a day challenge! This is the March list, it’s an interesting one indeed. As usual, I’ll be playing on Instagram and posting weekly updates here every Sunday (mostly, sometimes they are late).
How cute is this?! I just bought a cat face watch from ASOS, would adding this be too much? And coupled with my cat patterned iPhone case. Seems like fashion is currently embracing it’s inner Crazy Cat Lady-ness, and I’m on board with that!
Treated myself to this last week. Look how dinky it is! I was going to try and do a full review, but I’m not a beauty blogger and there is nothing I can say about this that isn’t already out there, other than that I am really happy that I bought this. I will use all the colours and I can’t often say that about eyeshadow palettes.
So some of you might be excited about a different day next week, but I’m more excited for Pancake Day (Tuesday 12th). I’ll be having some classic, thin crepe-style pancakes with sugar and lemon. Hopefully my toothache will have sorted itself out by then, otherwise – ouch!
Edinburgh International Science Festival is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary this year and it’s programme is typically fantastic. Running from 23rd March – 7th April there is something for everyone. I’m looking forward to The Great Big Science Quiz, The Edinburgh Medal Address, featuring man of the moment Professor Peter Higgs and Director General of CERN, Professor Rolf-Dieter Heuer, Pisces and The Ugly Animal Preservation Society. Comedy and science do mix.
